Hong Kong (October 24, 2015) – The forecast for the opening day of the Etchells Asia Pacific Championships stayed true to forecast, offering up a light 5 to 7kt breeze on an axis of 070°. International Race Officer Kevin Wilson set the committee boat early, with twin brother Ross coordinating the pin end boat to form a start line for 35 boats.

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Kellett Island boatyard and hardstand areas are a hive of activity this week, with registration and measurement underway for the Etchells Asia Pacific Championship and the 2015 Etchells World Championship, organised by the Hong Kong Sailing Federation and co-organised by RHKYC and the Hong Kong Etchells Association.

Welcome to the 2015 Etchells World Championships in Hong Kong. We are very much looking forward to hosting all overseas crews in Hong Kong later this year. We are also pleased to confirm we will be racing from Clearwater Bay Marina, in Clearwater Bay. The race track for the Worlds will be at Nine Pins, due east of Clearwater Bay Marina. It should take no more than 30 minutes to get to the race track from the regatta venue. All registration, measurement and official functions will be held at RHKYC main clubhouse at Kellett Island in Causeway Bay.
